SEO to help Sponsor W.O.R.D.S. Writing Competition in Indonesia

January 2008: SEO is proud to announce a collaborate funding effort to conduct the WORDS national creative writing competition in Indonesia. SEO, working together with the United States Fulbright Program and Indonesian based AMINEF, will raise funds and awareness to conduct this innovative competition.

WORDS is a national creative writing competition that helps to voice the ideas of Indonesian high school students, organized by the 2007-2008 Fulbright ETA’s. This competition urges students to use the English language in a creative and practical manner within our international community. Students from the 10th and 11th grade, in high schools affiliated with a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant, are encouraged to submit one entry related to the topic: "What does it mean to be an Indonesian?"

SEO Laos 2008 Program

Summit Educational Outreach is excited to announce the 2008 Laos Outreach program. SEO maintains strong contacts in Pakxe,(pop. 70,000) Laos, who will offer us the opportunity to give aid directly to schools where the need for basic supplies is among the greatest in the world. Quality education is an essential element in socio-economic progress, and in Laos, where English or French fluency is at a premium, SEO's outreach will help to enable primary school children in Pakxe to rise out of abject poverty.

Elementary schools in Laos have difficulty providing language and basic education however, because they lack the most essential materials including pencils, paper, maps and books as well as soccer balls, jump ropes and recreational equipment. SEO’s Laos Outreach project will provide these badly needed supplies to an elementary school in the city of Pakxe in southern Laos as well as selected rural school just outside the city limits.
